  1. happysecret answered: I’ve used chalk pastels without any problem, as long as a sealant is involved :)
  2. inkbizt answered: Yes yes
  3. fireashflames answered: Use hairspray over the top =]
  4. samanthabellakeatinge answered: use transparent spray paint after using it
  5. haikumoon answered: chalk pastels would be a better choice over oil. oils are so sticky. you could use a spray sealant on the chalk to keep it from smudging.
  6. whatiamisbrave answered: last time i did they smudged as soon as i closed it. you have to spray a sealer over them to make them ‘unsmudgable’ (yeah it’s a word)
  7. marisarenee answered: yes pastels almost always smudge but that’s why they’re so much fun!

  11. jltumbles answered: With the chalk pastels, use fixative and it should be fine.
  12. meaganmoroney answered: in a regular plain moleskine book, it will most likely smudge. Try to find a moleskine book made for sketching and drawing with thick paper.
  13. minadelicia answered: Slá KOSAKOSA’
  14. theunnamednarrator answered: I suppose you could use spray fixative to keep the soft pastels from smudging. I hear there is a special fixative out there for oil pastels.
  15. planetariumlife answered: They wont smudge if you spray the picture with hairspray when you finish
  16. outofashion answered: Oil pastel’s will hold a little better than the calk ones. The calk will just get everywhere. Oils will just sit on the next page.

  19. tascott answered: Pastels will smudge. You can spray with hairspray or another fixative to help. I prefer to use prismacolor color pencils.
  20. austinoliver answered: Oil ones will probably smudge. Whenever I use chalk pastels, I spray hairspray or fixative on top so that it doesn’t smudge.
  21. amoonlitsunset answered: Pastels are going to smudge no matter what. I’d use oil ones because chalk pastels will leave dust all over the place.
  22. wunderrbar answered: Try using watercolor markers instead.
  23. slowlydiscouraged answered: Like people have said, fixative is your answer. Both will smudge; oil pastels take a while to dry and will print on the opposing page
  24. ainebells answered: YEP just spritz them with hairspray before you shut the book :)

  30. blossomofthemayflower answered: they have anti’smudge spray…it’s about 5 bucks…otherwise it will smudge if it’s chalk. oils shouldsn’t
  31. allswell-endswell answered: they’ll smudge
  32. blackboes answered: You can, but I would suggest getting a sealant, a lot of people who don’t have the money to go out and buy an art use hairspray.

  34. swymlr answered: oil pastels will smudge more than chalk, but the dust from the chalk could get everywhere and the drawing could disappear.
